Ajo!

Self-construction movements across Latin America and Southern Europe represent a powerful form of collective agency — communities solving housing and infrastructure challenges through mutual aid and shared labor. Yet these projects often operate with fragmented communication systems and ad-hoc organizational methods. Ajo! emerged from a partnership with Recetas Urbanas, the Madrid-based collective pioneering participatory architecture and urban self-construction, to ask: what if there was a purpose-built digital platform specifically designed for the rhythms and needs of collaborative construction projects?

The platform addresses the real frictions in self-construction coordination: task organization, skill-sharing, scheduling of collective work sessions, materials tracking, and community communication. Rather than forcing projects into generic project management tools, Ajo! was built from the ground up with the workflows, values, and communication cultures of self-construction communities.

Ajo! demonstrates our commitment to building digital infrastructure for social movements and community-led initiatives — tools that amplify collective capacity rather than impose external logic onto grassroots organizing.
