Circular economy

GREENSPIRE

GREENSPIRE represents a timely response to Europe’s circular economy imperative. As policy pressure mounts to close material loops and reduce environmental impact across product lifecycles, companies face a persistent challenge: how to translate environmental footprint data into actionable ecodesign decisions. GREENSPIRE addresses this gap by developing comprehensive ecodesign frameworks grounded in scientifically rigorous product environmental footprint category rules.

The project brings together researchers, manufacturers, and policymakers to map the existing landscape of ecodesign methodologies and identify where standardized frameworks can reduce barriers to sustainable product innovation. Our role focuses on participatory framework development — ensuring that the ecodesign tools created are actually usable by design teams embedded in real production contexts, not just theoretically sound in a lab.

Building on our experience in life cycle thinking and sustainable product assessment, we’re positioned to ensure GREENSPIRE delivers not just methodological rigor but also practical adoption pathways for European manufacturers eager to move from compliance-driven to innovation-driven ecodesign.
